In Parshat VaYichi, Jacob blesses his grandsons before he dies. Part of his blessing includes this passage: “The Angel who has redeemed me from all harm, bless the lads. In them may my name be recalled, and the names of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, and may they become teeming multitudes upon the earth.” This section, known as “Hamalach” in Hebrew is traditionally sung at bedtime along with the Shema. Creating a pillowcase with the words of “Hamalach” will enhance this beautiful bedtime ritual.

Materials:
White cotton pillowcase
Puffy paints of fabric markers
Transfer paper
Hebrew font
Inkjet Printer
Iron

Instructions:
Print the words of “Hamalach” onto the transfer paper (see a selection of images of it here).
Iron the words onto the pillowcase following package directions.
Add color and designs using paints or markers. (Alternative: Tie-dye!)
SLEEP! Layla Tov!
