This lesson comes from a unit called "Nature and You" on www.LearningToGive.org, a resource that offers philanthropy education resources that teach giving and civic engagement. This unit's purpose: Students explore a Jewish perspective on the relationship between humans and their environment. They study and model Adam’s role of caretaker in the Garden of Eden. This unit demonstrates to students that environmental concern is inherent to the Jewish value system. It encourages students to play an active role in protecting their environment from harm. Learners will develop an understanding of what this responsibility required of Adam and model this responsibility to nature by taking care of a garden of their own.
